WEEKEND EVENTS: National Public Gardens Day, kiln opening and Spring Fling | Community Spirit
ATHENS, Ga. – There are tons of fun events going on this weekend, in your area. We’ve listed a few of them for you to check out with your family and friends.
To commemorate National Public Gardens Day, sponsored by the Rain Bird and American Public Gardens Association, nationwide gardens are offering free admission with a coupon printout, which can be found here. The State Botanical Garden of Georgia, located in Athens, is accepting these coupons. The Garden is located about three miles south of the University. The address is 2450 South Milledge Avenue in Athens.
Visit Vines Garden in Loganville on Sunday May 7 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. for National Train Day at Vines Garden. This event is being presented by Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation. Engineers will be on hand holding information sessions on trains at the largest railroad in the Southeast. Vines Garden is located at 3500 Oak Grove Road in Loganville.
Early Saturday morning, Michael Crocker will hold a kiln opening in Lula. The opening, which will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. and will display his Folk Pottery which is on display at different exhibits at the Northeast Georgia Folk Pottery Museum in Sautee, Georgia. The kiln opening will be held at 6361 West County Line Road in Lula.
Join the people of Gwinnett County for the “Spring Fling and Yard Sale”. The event held on Saturday, May 7 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. will go on, rain or shine. Vendors will be selling crafts and yard sale items; however, it isn’t a farmers market so no food will be sold. The event features a moonwalk, games and crafts. The event will be held at Lucky Shoals Park Community Recreation Center at 4651 Britt Road in Norcross.
