DORAVILLE, Ga. -- A Doraville resident and community enthusiast has tossed her hat into the ring to become her city's next mayor.
Carol Gilman plans to file to run as mayor of Doraville. If chosen, she will become the city's first female elected mayor.
To celebrate the kick-off of the Gilman campaign, a special cookout is planned at Brook Park (3193 Ramond Drive, 30340) on Wednesday, May 25 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.
"I am excited to have the opportunity to serve the residents of Doraville," Gilman said. "There are fiscal and governance issues that require immediate attention, and I am prepared for the challenge."
A graduate of Georgia State University, Gilman has 30 years of business experience in fields such as accounting, auditing, banking, and internal and business consulting.
