Tower Beer, Wine & Spirits celebrates Sunday sales

DORAVILLE, Ga. -- Tower Beer, Wine & Spirits in Doraville is finally open for Sunday sales and is ready to celebrate.

The store will hold a Sunday sales festival this Sunday, May 6 from noon until 7:30 p.m. Customers can enjoy lunch from Brown's BBQ and GNO Snowballs, listen to music from Mariachi Amigoz and, of course, stock up on all the beer, wine and liquor they can carry.

Rich "Sully" Sullivan from davefm will attend the festival to bag customers' purchases and carry them to cars. Every tip he receives for his services will be matched by the store; at the end of the day, that money will be donated to the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

Chick-fil-A to host mother-son 'Date Knight'

ATLANTA -- All of the Chick-fil-A restaurants in metro Atlanta will host a special mother-son Date Knight on Saturday, Apr. 28.

The Date Knight format will be similar to that of the franchise's massively popular Daddy-Daughter Date Nights. It will give mothers and sons a special chance to enjoy some quality time together.

The event will have a medieval theme, hence the "Knight" part of its title.

"One of Chick-fil-A's goals is to promote community connections and enrich the lives of everyone we come in contact with," Robin Lomax, Chick-fil-A area marketing director, said in a statement. "We understand the importance of mother-son relationships and want to encourage local moms to come to Chick-fil-A, enjoy their sons' company over a meal and have fun."

Food Truck Block Party with the Atlanta Hawks on April 21

ATLANTA -- Food, family, fun, and basketball will all come together in Peachtree Corners on Saturday, April 21.  The Hawks Food Truck Block Party will be the 1st time ever that the famous trucks from the Atlanta Street Food Coalition will be in the Gwinnett area.

There will be about 10 Food Trucks participating in the block party, including Tamale Queen, Pup Truck, Pressed for Time, Yum Yum and more.  A link to the Coalition is here.

As always the Atlanta Hawks will bring tons of fun to the community.  They plan to bring a full basketball court, inflatables, more games, free giveaways, there will be a DJ, Hawks cheerleaders and Harry the Hawk (our mascot).  

It will be a day of family fun for Peachtree Corners and Gwinnett County residents.

DeKalb Kicks off National County Government Month

 

DECATUR – DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis announces DeKalb County will join the National Association of Counties (NACo), along with counties across America, in celebrating National County Government Month (NCGM) this April. The month-long celebration aims to raise public awareness and understanding about the roles and responsibilities of county government. The county’s theme this year is “Healthy Counties, Healthy Families: ONE Healthy DeKalb”.

Since 1991, NACo has encouraged counties across the country to actively promote county government programs and services. To commemorate NCGM, events geared toward citizens and employees will take place at venues around the county.

DECATUR – The deadline to submit a nomination for the 2012 CEO’s Community Hero Awards is set for Friday, March 30. The event, presented by DeKalb County Chief Executive Officer Burrell Ellis and The Champion Newspaper, honors individuals and organizations that have made a significant impact in DeKalb County through volunteerism. Recipients will receive charitable contributions to help further their efforts in the county. Nomination forms are available online at www.dekalbcountyga.gov.

DeKalb County's Cable Television Station, DCTV Channel 23, will begin production again for the show DeKalb Salutes You.
