KDB to Host Tree Pick-Up, 'Bring One for the Chipper'

DEKALB COUNTY, GA -- Keep DeKalb Beautiful (KDB) and the DeKalb County Sanitation Division will celebrate the 20th annual "Bring One for the Chipper" event in January.

KDB asks that DeKalb County residents recycle their Christmas trees after the holidays through the DeKalb County Sanitation Division's Curbside Recycling Program.

DeKalb residents receiving sanitation services can place their tree at the curb for pick-up on regular yard collection waste day. Trees should be seven feet or smaller; trees eight feet or larger must be cut in half for pick-up.

The recycled trees will be chipped into mulch or used as wildlife habitat. Mulch is used for public beautification projects and is also available free to DeKalb County residents.

Make Your Own Rain Barrel

Collecting rainwater in rain barrels for use during dry months is an excellent way to conserve water and reduce water bills and the DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management (DWM) will host a Rain Barrel workshop for DeKalb citizens on Saturday, Sept. 25 at the Tucker Recreation Center (4898 Lavista Road in Tucker).
