Illyes received the honor after helping the Silverbacks clinch a 2-0 victory over the defending NASL champion Minnesota Stars over the weekend.

"Daniel made some big saves and punches on Saturday, and I thought his overall performance was outstanding," Silverbacks interim head coach Eric Wynalda said in a statement. "Any time you shut out a team like the Stars in their own backyard, it usually has a lot to do with the goalkeeper, and it was no different on Saturday."

Illyes joined the Silverbacks this season after playing professional soccer in his native Hungary for 10 years. He has started 15 of this season's 16 games.

The Silverbacks will host the Puerto Rico Islanders this Saturday at Atlanta Silverbacks Park in Doraville. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. Visit atlantasilverbacks.com to learn more and purchase tickets.
