ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Silverbacks have signed three new players, including a set of Brazilian twins.

Forward Pedro Mendes and midfielders Milton Blanco and Paulo Mendes were inked last week, the Silverbacks announced Friday.

Paulo and Pedro Mendes come to Atlanta from the Rhode Island Reds, after playing for Cal FC in this year's U.S. Open Cup. The 22-year-olds played for California's Foothill College for one season.

"I've been following Pedro and Paulo for a few years, and when the opportunity came for me to put them in a professional environment, I wanted to take it," Silverbacks interim head coach Eric Wynalda said in a statement. "They're both very talented players who can really help our team, so we're very pleased to have them."

Blanco was traded to the Silverbacks from the Charlotte Eagles; he has also played for the Harrisburg City Islanders, Fresno Fuego, Puerto Rico Islanders and Chivas USA. He was named the 2011 North American Premier Development League MVP. Blanco attended Fresno Pacific University.

"We're very pleased about the addition of Milton to our squad," Wynalda said. "His positive attitude, professional approach and tremendous abilities will help our team immensely."
