McManus, 31, played for the Silverbacks from 2005 to 2008, and the Memphis, Tenn. native is excited to rejoin the team.

"I've known Tony for a long time, and I'm very excited about his return to Atlanta," said Silverbacks director of soccer Rodrigo Rios. "He's going to be a major contributor to our team, both on and off the field."

Since leaving Atlanta, McManus has played for the Portland (Ore.) Timbers, Tampa Bay Rowdies and Carolina RailHawks.

Ruthven, who grew up in Alpharetta, played for the Silverbacks in 2011, appearing in 27 of the team's 28 games, and tallying one goal and two assists.

"Tyler proved last season that he's a strong defender," Rios said of the 27-year-old, who is currently training with the New York Red Bulls. "And we're confident we're going to see him get even better this year."

Ruthven and McManus will both join the team when training camp begins in late February.

The Silverbacks play their home games at Atlanta Silverbacks Park, which is located at 3200 Atlanta Silverbacks Way in Doraville. For more information, visit www.atlantasilverbacks.com.
